Public beta on the Base Sepolia test network. Payments use test USDC with no real value: do not send real funds. The escrow contract has not had its external security audit yet, and the terms are drafts pending legal review. What the beta means

OpenVPT

01 · On-chain escrow

Trust the code, not strangers.

Payments are locked in a smart contract and released only after inspection. Any two of three keys must turn together before money moves, so the platform can never open it alone.

  • 2-of-3multisig escrow
  • USDCsettled on-chain
  • Inspectiondispute if it doesn't match

02 · Multisig vault

Three keys.

Every order is locked in a three-layer vault: the platform signs the payment parameters, the delivered files leave a hash on record, and funds only move when two of the three keys turn together. Each step maps to one layer of the vault.

Same deal, three ways.

Paying a stranger for code, a licence or a website. Here is what changes depending on who holds the money.

  • 01

    Who holds the money

    OpenVPT escrow
A smart contract. No single party, OpenVPT included, can move it alone.
    Private deal
Whoever is paid first, usually the seller.
    Escrow agent
The agent, in its own account.
  • 02

Can one side run off with it?

    OpenVPT escrow
Not alone. Every payout needs 2 of 3 signatures: buyer, seller, platform.
    Private deal
Yes. Once one side has been paid, nothing stops them from disappearing.
    Escrow agent
The parties can't, but you rely on the agent itself being honest and solvent.
  • 03

    Delivery proof

    OpenVPT escrow
Delivery is submitted in the order (files get a SHA-256 fingerprint), then the buyer inspects it (3 days by default).
    Private deal
    Screenshots and chat logs.
    Escrow agent
Depends on the agent, usually the buyer's confirmation and paperwork.
  • 04

    Dispute handling

    OpenVPT escrow
The buyer can open a dispute during inspection. Both sides have 72 hours to settle it with evidence; then an arbitrator decides, or the platform proposes the outcome if one side never responded.
    Private deal
No referee. Negotiate, or go to court.
    Escrow agent
The agent's own process, usually a manual review.
  • 05

    Speed of release

    OpenVPT escrow
When the buyer confirms, the payout is submitted on-chain right away. No reply? When the inspection window ends, the platform signs the payout and the seller co-signs to collect it.
    Private deal
    Instant, with no protection.
    Escrow agent
Often several days, depending on manual checks and bank transfers.
  • 06

    Fees

    OpenVPT escrow
The buyer pays the listed price. 5% by default comes out of the seller's share, pro-rated on partial refunds. You pay the network gas for your own transactions.
    Private deal
    No service fee.
    Escrow agent
A service fee that varies by provider, plus any bank charges.
  • 07

    On-chain verifiability

    OpenVPT escrow
Payment and payout are public contract events anyone can check.
    Private deal
At most the transfer itself, not what was agreed.
    Escrow agent
No. You see the agent's own statements.

Traditional escrow terms vary by provider. This table describes typical practice, not any specific company.

05 · Sell on OpenVPT

Sell your code. Get paid in USDC.

List source code, templates, licences or whole projects. Buyers pay into a 2-of-3 multisig escrow first, so the USDC is already locked in the contract before you deliver.

The buyer pays exactly this price. Up to 6 decimal places.

The default fee is 5%, rounded down to the smallest USDC unit and taken from your share when the order settles. On a partial refund it is pro-rated to what you are paid.

  1. Verify and link a wallet

Complete identity verification (KYC), then link your wallet by signing a message. You need both before you can list.

  2. Submit for review

Set a price in USDC, a delivery time and an inspection window (3 days each by default). The platform reviews every listing before it goes live.

  3. Deliver and get paid

After ordering, the buyer has 24 hours to fund the escrow. Once it is funded, deliver files, a licence key or a checklist. When the buyer confirms, or the inspection window ends, the escrow releases your USDC with two of the three signatures.

07 · FAQ

Asked and answered.

The short version of how payment, release and disputes work.

  • Payments are in USDC on the Base network, sent from your own wallet. You have 24 hours to pay after placing an order. Each payment request the platform signs is valid for 15 minutes and is refreshed automatically.

You also need a little ETH on Base for network gas.
